Configuring Gx+ Utilities for use via Ethernet
1. Connect the USB cable (do not connect the Ethernet at this stage)
2. Wake the scanner if necessary by pressing the Cancel button
3. Click the Connection button gear symbol (circled)
4. On the Connection screen c
heck „Use Ethernet to connect‟
5. Enter the Command Port value (default is 17236)
6. Enter the Data Port value (default is 17237)
7. Click OK
8. Power off the scanner
9. Connect the Ethernet cable and disconnect the USB cable
10. Switch on the scanner
11. Run Utilities. You may notice a small time delay.
If Gx+ Utilities cannot detect the scanner if will offer the operator the chance to change the communication settings.
To use Ethernet all Colortrac software must be reconfigured by the user from the USB2 default. If the scan software
fails to connect to the scanner the time-out function will allow the operator to inspect / change the settings. Refer to
the following for more details.
Checking the Ethernet settings using the operating system.
The connection can be checked from the DOS prompt by
typing
netstat
– a
followed by
<ENTER>
.
The IP address of the host computer (200.2.1.29), scanner (200.2.1.128) and the ports shown here as 17236 and
17237 should all be visible.
IMPORTANT:
If a scanner is switched on with USB and Ethernet interfaces connected, the USB interface will become
the active interface. If a USB cable is plugged into a working Ethernet configured scanner the scanner will
automatically switch to USB as the active communications interface. Utilities and other applications configured for
Ethernet will then
report „No Scanner‟ or time out.
To restore Ethernet operation switch off the scanner, remove the USB cable and restart the scanner. If there are
problems re-establishing an Ethernet connection it may be necessary to power cycle the Ethernet switch.
Always switch the scanner OFF before changing from USB to Ethernet or Ethernet to USB.
