Synchronization with RetCam Review Software (RCRS)

RetCam 3 and RetCam Shuttle User Manual

PN 18-000393 Rev. A

Synchronization can involve transfer of significant amounts of data, thus 
increasing the duration of the transfer. Clarity recommends that 
synchronization occur frequently, at least once per day that you acquire new 
images. This practice reduces the volume of data transferred during any 
single synchronization process. 

Data shared between the RetCam and RCRS is only as up-to-date as the 
most recent synchronization.

Data created on the RetCam and RCRS for the same patient or user can 
cause creation of duplicate patients or users. Duplicate patients or users are 
not merged by the synchronization process. Clarity recommends that each 
institution develop consistent data entry processes to minimize the creation 
of duplicate patients or users.

NOTE

Data that requires synchronization with RCRS is identified by the “Sync 
Required” value in the 

Sync

 

Status

 column. The “Sync Required” status also 

appears in the 

Domain Selection

 screen displayed during user login and in 

the 

Domain

 menu on the 

Patients and Exams

 screen.

NOTE

The “Sync Required” status is displayed only when the RetCam is configured 
for use with RCRS and the data does not match exactly with corresponding 
data stored on the RCRS. 

NOTE

Synchronization affects patient data in the current domain only. Each domain 
must be individually synchronized.

NOTE

During synchronization, other RetCam functions are not available. Clarity 
recommends that adequate time be allowed for synchronization to complete 
before the RetCam system is needed for performing other functions.
