6. Tighten the set screws on the terminal block with a Phillips screwdriver.
WARNING: When making connections to the terminal block, make sure that no stray
strands of the input wire come into contact with any other part of the terminal block.
7. Do one of the following:
•
If this is an installation with a single power supply, verify that the second power supply
slot is covered with a cover plate. Proceed to
Step 11.
•
If this is an installation with redundant power supplies, continue to
Step 8.
8. Remove the cover plate from the power supply slot PS B, if installed.
9. Slide the power supply straight into the power supply slot PS B.
10.Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the single captive hold-down screw.
11.Use the terminal blocks on the front of the DC power supply to connect the wires for
positive, negative and ground. Tighten the set screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
12.At the breaker, connect the power input wires for PS A and PS B (if installed) and
tighten the set screws (if present).
NOTE: Separate breakers should be used for PS A and P SB. This ensures that power can
be removed from one power supply so that it can be replaced while the unit is operating.
13.Restore power to the input DC circuit for PS A and PS B, if installed.
14.Verify that the power supply LEDs are green. See the Unit Status LEDs section on
page 40 for additional information.
You have now installed and verified the power supply. The following LED indications
should be present on the CN 3960:
•
PS A - solid green
•
PS B - either solid green (if redundant power supplies are installed) or off (if a single
power supply is installed)
•
PWR - solid green
NOTE: The system cannot distinguish between a faulty and an unpowered supply. As a
result, if redundant power supplies are installed, but only one supply is connected to a
power source, the unpowered supply will cause the system to report an alarm state (ALRM
LED solid yellow and STAT LED off). This alarm will be cleared when the power supply is
properly initialized.
The power cable should be properly secured to avoid accidental disconnection. See the
Restraining the Power Cord section on page 26 for more information.
