Installing an AC Power Supply

The following procedure explains how to install the AC power supply. The procedure 

includes directions for installing both standalone and redundant power supplies.
WARNING: To prevent ESD damage to electronic components, always use an ESD wrist 

strap when handling modules.

1. Locate the empty slot PS A.

2. Ensure that the power cord is disconnected from the power source.

3. Slide the power supply straight into the power supply slot PS A.

4. Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the single captive hold-down screw.

5. Do one of the following:

•

If this is an installation with a single power supply, verify that the second power supply 

slot is covered with a cover plate. Proceed to 

Step 9.

•

If this is an installation with redundant power supplies, continue to 

Step 6.

6. Remove the cover plate from the power supply slot PS B, if installed.

7. Slide the power supply straight into the power supply bay PS B.

8. Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the two captive hold-down screws.

9. Connect the power cord to the power supply PS A (and PS B if installed).

WARNING: In configurations with two AC power supplies, each power supply must be 

connected to a separate input circuit. 

Figure 2-2 shows the faceplate of the AC power supply.
