Operating Guidelines
Air Chicago (Standard/XW/XL/XXL)
3-14
Number of Operators
Generally, only one operator is needed to
operate the Air Chicago. Its design and operation
allows one operator to efficiently feed towels and
other items and to retrieve folded pieces from the
return conveyor for proper storage. This labor-
saving feature means other operators are free for
other work.
Post the Standards
When the correct standards have been
established for each item, post them. Make up a
chart that shows each item with:
The name or measurements that are
commonly used to describe the item.
SIZE SELECT button to press.
Note if this item requires that one of
the CHI panels functions be changed
manually.
Whether to feed this item in the middle
of the unit or centered on the edge of a
primary fold ski.
By following posted standards, all operators
will use the best techniques for maximum
productivity.

Work Habits
Once the supervisor has established the
proper standards for using the Air Chicago, it is
necessary to implement them. Maximum safety
and productivity happens when operators:
Think safety first
Sort items into the established categories
Follow the standards for each category
Use good feeding technique at all times
Safety
The first priority of everyone in the laundry
must be safety. The air permeable barrier and all
safety guards and covers must be in place when
the machine is operating. No one should ever put
a hand into the machine while the power is on.
Sort Into Categories
The Air Chicago works best when one size
is done at a time. Follow the posted standards
and sort the goods into the size categories
established.
Standards for Each Category
The supervisor will post standards for each
item to be processed.
