7.5.1 Merlin LT laser range finder rotation speed
The Merlin LT laser records 36,000 points per second and can rotate to a speed of 20 Hz (20 revolutions per
second). The navigation software drivers enable this rotation speed to be changed during operations.
You can also change the laser rotation speed when using the Merlin diagnostic tool. This can help to verify correct
mechanical operation prior to connection to the navigation software.
To change the laser rotation speed, prior to starting the laser enter a value 1 – 20 in the
Speed (Hz)
text entry box.
This is found within the Laser frame of the main Merlin diagnostic tool window: see Figure 40.
With the correct speed set, click Start to start the laser rotating.
7.6 Checking the timing source
It is essential that you verify the timing inputs prior to operation in your navigation software. This section describes
how to do this in the Merlin diagnostic tool software.
