Patient Preparation

Overview

Patient preparation consists of the following steps:
1. Patient preparation. See “Patient Preparation” on pg. 6-2.
2. Skin preparation. See “Skin Preparation” on pg. 6-2.
3. Apply sensors.

• For placement information, see “Resting ECG Lead

Placement & Coding Chart” on pg. 6-4 or “Alternative Lead

Placements” on pg. 6-8.

• For sensor-specific instructions, see “Disposable Resting

ECG Sensors” on pg. 6-5 or “Reusable ECG Sensors” on

pg. 6-6.

4. Apply sensors and connect the patient cable and lead wires before

entering patient information this allows the sensors to adhere, stabi-

lize, and improve conductivity. See “Connecting Cables and Lead

Wires” on pg. 6-8.

WARNING

Explosion hazard. Do not use in the presence of flammable anesthetics,
other gasses that support combustion, or in a high-oxygen atmosphere.

WARNING

Misdiagnosis. Electromagnetic interference may cause trace noise or
input overload conditions. This may be caused by the presence of strong
EMI fields, or generated by RF noise on the line power, or by electronic,
surgical, or diathermy instruments in close proximity to the Atria. Position
the Atria and the patient cable away from other electrical or electronic
equipment, if possible.

If used with, or around, other electrical or electronic equipment, always
carefully monitor initial readings to verify normal operation.

The Atria is compliant with IEC 60601-1-2 EMC immunity requirements.

Always use the shortest possible shielded cables.
