Hold the cartridge so the arrow printed
on the cartridge is pointing forward
toward the printer unit. Gently slide the
cartridge into the printer unit as far as
it will go.

Set the cartridge back into the original
position.

Close the top cover.
IMPORTANT
• If the top cover does not close properly, do
not force it. This may cause damage to the
machine. Open the top cover again,
remove the cartridge, and reinsert it.
Make sure the cartridge is positioned cor-
rectly before you close the top cover.
• Once the cartridge is in place, do not
leave the top cover open for long periods
of time.

Start a print or copy job and check the output.
NOTE
• If this procedure did not correct this problem, replace the cartridge. (See “Replacing the Car-
tridge,” on p. 1-21.)
