Setting Exposure Compensation
The exposure compensation amount you set will be effective until it is canceled manually. To
cancel the exposure compensation amount, turn the <
> to set the exposure compensation
amount to 0, according to procedure

on this page.
Exposure compensation is used to alter the camera’s standard exposure setting. To set the
exposure compensation amount, you can either turn the <
> dial while looking through the
viewfinder or press the <
> button and turn the <
> dial while looking at the LCD panel.
The exposure compensation amount can be set up to +/–3 stops in 1/3-stop increments.

The exposure compensation icon <
> and the
exposure level indicator < > will be displayed in the
viewfinder, while the exposure level indicator < >
will be displayed on the LCD panel.
•
Turn the <
> dial while pressing the shutter button
halfway or within (
) after releasing the shutter
button.
•
On the viewfinder’s exposure level scale, any
position above the standard exposure index
indicates increased exposure and any position
below it indicates decreased exposure. On the LCD
panel, any position on the + side indicates in-
creased exposure and any position on the – side
indicates decreased exposure.
•
To cancel exposure compensation, set the amount
to the standard exposure index (<
> or <
>).
