rise, and a nominal speciﬁc heat for water of 8.25 Btu per gallon per degree F.

The unit must be installed on a ﬁre retardant area, and must be away from all combustible materials.

Minimum clearances from combustible construction, 6 inches sides, 0 inches back and 12 inches top.

The temperature and pressure relief valve provided by the manufacturer shall be installed at the

time of installation of the heater in the location speciﬁed by the manufacturer. Local codes shall

gover installation of relief devices. For safe operation of the water heater, the relief valve must not

be removed or plugged.
