InsE7420+Cards+

The Calix E7-20 shelf is equipped with twenty universal line card slots and two centralized

Switch Control Processor (SCP) cards that provide the management and core switching

function. The SCP cards are installed in matrix slots A and B and are uniquely keyed,

preventing line cards from being installed into matrix slots, and matrix units from being
installed into line card slots.

Install E7-20 cards as described below.

Note:

The E7-20 chassis 'Blank' cards (equipped with no electronics) must be installed in

into any vacant universal slot to maintain emissions and facilitate proper airflow in E7-20
systems when a line card is not installed in the chassis. Whenever an E7-20 shelf operates

without a full set of 20 line cards, a Blank card must be installed in each of the the empty

slots. Calix E7 blank line cards are ordered and packaged separately.

To!install!an!E7)20!line!card!

1.!

Unpack the E7-20 line card from its packaging.

2.!

Install the E7-20 line card into a vacant universal slot (slot 1-10 or slot 11-20) as follows:
a.

!

On the card faceplate, pull the single ejector lever into the open (unlocked) position.

b.

!

Orient the card vertically, with the ejector lever on the bottom side.

c.

!

Insert the card into a vacant universal slot, aligning the card with the chassis guide

rails to the top and bottom of the card.

d.

!

Push the card ejector lever into the closed (locked) position to fully seat the card.

ALERT!

!!To!avoid!damaging!the!card!or!shelf,!align!the!card!correctly!with!the!

guide!rails!in!the!slot!before!inserting!the!card.!

3.!

Repeat the steps above to install a second line card into the E7-20 shelf, as required.

Otherwise, install the Blank card into the vacant line card slot.
