Cabinet deployments are not supported unless they are cooled to a typical Central Office

environment, using air conditioning, not a heat exchanger.

The E7-20 provides two mounting options:

Standard US Telco with 5-inch maximum protrusion from the front of the rack
mounting rails to farthest forward point of the equipment, all cables included.

!

!

Mid-mount with 10-inch maximum protrusion from the front of the rack mounting rails
to farthest forward point of the equipment, all cables included.

Complete the steps below to install the Calix E7-20 chassis into an equipment rack.

To!install!the!E7)20!chassis!

1.!

If the chassis is to be installed in a 23-inch equipment rack, attach the mounting ears to

the existing chassis mounting brackets.
a.

Get a pair of mounting ears and (8) flat head screws from the installation kit.

Note:

The chassis is shipped with mounting brackets attached that allow for installation

in a 19-inch rack using the standard US Telco mounting option, allowing for a 5-inch

maximum protrusion from the front of the rack mounting rails. The installation kit

includes an additional set of mounting ears, to adapt the already attached brackets for the

chassis installation in a 23-inch rack. The two sheet metal tabs on each mounting bracket
are not used.

Align each mounting ear to the existing chassis mounting bracket to reveal the

common pre-drilled attachment holes (4 per mounting bracket side).

Attach the screws in the lined up attachment holes, securing the two brackets.

2.!

Identify the E7-20 mounting location on the rack, where the two mounting screws are

12.25" apart and the bottom screw is 5.75" from the bottom of the chassis.

3.!

Attach the mounting screws to the locations identified in the previous step, leaving a gap

between the screw head and the equipment rack.

4.!

Mount the E7-20 chassis onto the equipment rack by inserting the rack mounting screws
through the keyholes in the mounting bracket, and then sliding the chassis down into

place.
