BLOCK PROGRAMMING COMMANDS
INTRODUCTION
Block programming allows the user to specify a sequential block of data to be entered
automatically into a table instead of keying in each entry of the block. Block programming does
not 'insert' data into the table, but instead writes over any data in the block of sequences in the
same manner as the Replace mode.
WIRE LIST TABLE
Since wire lists usually do not have a set pattern on both the From and To points, not many
applications other than one-to-one wired interface cables can use the Wire List Block Assign
operation. It is useful primarily for setting up quick test programs for evaluating the system. For
example, if a 64-conductor flat ribbon cable were to be tested with one end connected to points 1
through 64, and the second end connected to points 65 through 128, Block Assign could be used
to make a quick test program.
1. Set the current line to the sequence number where you wish the block to start.
2. While in the Display mode (only displaying W in the left column), type B and press
ENTER. The display shows:
SEQUENCE # INC ?
3. Enter the number of sequences that you wish to increment with each continuity number
(between 1 and 256). The display then shows:
START FROM PT ?
4. Enter a FROM point (between 1 and 512). The display then shows:
START TO PT ?
5. Enter a TO point (between 1 and 512). The display then shows:
STOP FROM PT ?
6. Enter the last FROM point of the block (between 1 and 512). The display then shows:
STOP TO PT ?
7. Enter the last TO point of the block (between 1 and 512). The display then shows:
POINT # INC ?
8. Enter the number by which you want the FROM/TO points incremented for each
continuity. The display then shows:
W XXX YYY ZZZ
W
=
Wire List Table
XXX =
The last sequence number filled by the Block command,
YYY =
Stop From point,
ZZZ =
Stop To point.
