The belt clip

The belt clip is supplied fitted to the handset and allows the
handset to be clipped easily onto your belt, waistband or shirt
pocket thereby allowing you to conveniently carry the handset
around with you. 

Battery status symbol

When the battery is fully charged, the status symbol displayed on
the handset LCD screen should show as fully charged (see below).
As the battery is used the status symbol will change accordingly:

Connecting a telephone line to the base unit

Connect the telephone line cord into the telephone socket on the
rear of the base unit. This connector is marked:

Plug the other end into a standard telephone line wall socket.
Route the cable through the integral clips on the rear of the base
unit.

As soon as the handset is charged you will be able to make and
receive phone calls, receive Caller ID call list entries, and store
numbers in the phonebook.

or your CWD2601 may not work correctly.
