If you have a critical application you can use the Measure Pro to make a Z map of the
surface. It makes a correction table that will correct for surface irregularities. The entire
surface does not have to be mapped, but it should be mapped at least an inch or more
beyond the critical area. It maps out the surface in even 1 inch increments and
interpolates the z error between points. Unmeasured points have a correction of zero.
Even with a Correction table, you may notice some inconsistency because of material
flexing. You should have a lot of support and stiff material. Material thinner than .062
will probably not yield satisfactory results unless it has some sort of backing.
This piece was done using the method above.
Inlets can be made in a similar way, but use the same tool used for cutting through. If
you have a 3D capable CAD you can simply set the Z depth of the lines and arcs.
