Dismantling for cleaning or servicing
Turn the evaporating flask by hand until the locking pin meets
the hole.
Use the hook wrench to loosen the union nut and remove
the evaporating flask.
Disconnect all the flexible couplings necessary to be able to
remove the distribution piece.
You can now take off the top part of the seal and the seal
holder
Undo the two fixing screws (do not take out completely) until
you can remove the bottom part of the seal together with the
vapor duct.
Assembling after cleaning or servicing
To reassemble the seal, proceed in reverse order.
Tighten the two fixing screws up to the stop in order to fa-
sten the seal in place. Do not overtighten or you may damage
the seal.
To prolong the life of the seal, note the following points:
•
Never apply any grease to the seal.
•
Never touch the seal with sharp objects.
•
Examine and clean the seal regularly.
6.6 Leak test
After you have completely assembled the rotary evaporator
and before you put it into operation, i.e. in a clean and dry
condition, check that it is vacuum-tight. To do so, evacuate
the unit to below 100 mbar and close the system tightly. The
pressure rise per 15 minutes should not exceed 3-5 bar.
A greater rise in pressure would be an indication of a leaky
connection. In this case, check all the flexible couplings and
valves.
6.7 Customer service
Only authorized service technicians are allowed to work on
the Rotavapor.
Authorized Büchi Customer Service Centers have a special
service manual at their disposal.
