Cycling with children
Cycling with children is very pleasant, but it
calls for extra precautions:
■
When taking your child on the bike, choose
an EN14344 approved child seat: this is the
safest way to transport your child on the
bike.
■
Preferably choose a child seat that is moun-
ted on the back of the bike. When your
child is seated in the back there will be less
restriction as opposed to when your child
in seated in the front. If you insist on seating
your baby in the front of the bike, make sure
that the seat is attached to the stem or to
the frame and not to the steering wheel.
■
It is advised not to go cycling with two kids
on the bike at the same time. This will affect
your stability and safety. In the event that
you suddenly need to evade a situation,
you are more likely to lose your balance
with two kids on the bike.
■
Before you leave, make sure that your child
is seated properly and that the belt(s) are
fastened tight. The feet of the child should
be placed on the footrests or ideally in
footstraps. This will prevent them from
dangling their feet, this can prevent their
feet from ending up between the spokes.
■
Keep in mind that cycling with children will
lead to a longer braking distance.
Theft and prevention
Virtually all Brinckers bikes are equipped with
an ART approved bicycle lock, which not only
protects your bike from theft, but also makes
the bike suitable for insurance. Most insurance
companies demand your bike to be equip-
ped with an ART ** approved lock, although
the terms and conditions may vary per
insurance company. In order to prevent theft,
we recommend that you always lock your bike
when you are not using it and store the keys
securely. If you own an e-bike, it is very much
advisable to purchase an extra lock, so that
thieves won’t stand a chance.
Each bike is equipped with a unique frame
number. This frame number can be found on
the frame near the barcode (often close to
the chain box), but also on the invoice that
you have received from your Brinckers dealer.
Here, you can also find the key number: in the
unfortunate event that you loose the key, this
number will allow you to request a new one.
Please contact your Brinckers dealer when
you lose the key. Did your bike get stolen? You
obviously want to report that! To do this you
need the frame number of your bike, so don’t
forget to save the purchase invoice.
