5.3 Drive Pulley Alignment
The fan drive pulleys must be aligned to within
1/16” to ensure long drive belt life. This can be
checked with a long straight edge. If the pulleys
require adjustment use the following procedure:
1. Loosen the spring loaded belt idler until the belt
has zero tension.
2. Before undoing anything, determine which way
the top pulley has to move in order to be in line
with the lower pulley and mark the position of
the tapered bushing on the fan shaft.
3. With a 1/2” wrench, loosen the tapered bushing
on the fan shaft. This will require removal of
three bolts from the front of the tapered bushing.
Then re-thread the bolts back into the threaded
holes
in the bushing and push the pulley off of
the bushing with the bolts.

4. Reposition the bushing according to the marks
made on the fan shaft and install the three bolts
back into the bushing and pulley. The bolts have
to be torqued to 16 ft-lbs. It will be necessary
to torque each of the bolts several times until
they all are at 16 ft-lbs.
