General description

Intended use
•
A plastic band is placed over a large bale (cylindrical or prismatic) to isolate it from contact with oxygen in the
air.
•
Fermentation takes place in the forage inside the bale, which has a high moisture content, allowing it to be
stored as silage.
•
The wrapping process should be carried out shortly after the bale is formed, and the moisture content of the
grass should not be high (40‐45% dry matter).
•
The base of the machine is a horizontal platform, formed by two rollers that are joined by several plastic bands,
on which the cylindrical bale rests, which rotates according to the axis of the cylinder.
•
A plastic coil fixed on an arm is placed on the side and it is the platform that rotates on its central axis.
•
Combining the rotational movement that the platform provides to the bale with that of the arm containing the
plastic coil, the bale is completely covered, being necessary 2 to 3 layers of plastic over the entire surface.
During wrapping, the plastic foil is stretched (up to 70%) for a strong hold between successive layers.
•
Once the process is completed, the plastic tape is broken by traction and the platform supporting the bale is
tilted to let the wrapped bale fall to the ground. As it falls, it can rest on one of the bases of the cylinder, which
is the strongest area of the cover.
