Communication
Shows status for the two serial ports, the External I/O and the Modbus TCP Slave.
When a correct message is received on COM1, COM2 or if there are printout data in
the printer buffer, the corresponding header text will blink.
The serial ports COM1 and COM2 can be ‘Not In Use’, ‘Modbus RTU Slave’ or ‘Printer.
In the example below ‘COM1:’ is not used and ‘COM2:’ is in Modbus RTU Slave mode
with address 1, 115200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity and 1 stop bit.

External I/O: WAGO, Connected
Communication diagnostics.
For the External I/O the following information might be displayed:
External I/O: Off
The parameter controlling external I/O is set to Off. I.e. the external I/O is not
used.
External I/O: WAGO, Connected
The communication works correctly with the connected WAGO I/O system.
External I/O: WAGO, Connected (Com.Err.)
The G4 and the WAGO I/O system are connected but there is an undefined
communication error. This problem may be temporary or persistent. To solve the
problem: Check WAGO Fieldbus Coupler status indication LED’s. Cycle power to
WAGO.
External I/O: WAGO, Not connected
The G4 is correctly initialized but there is no communication with a WAGO I/O
system. To solve the problem: Check connection, WAGO power, WAGO and
G4 Instrument configuration etc.
External I/O: WAGO, Faulty
There is an internal fatal error regarding external I/O. To solve the problem:
Disconnect WAGO and cycle G4 Instrument power. Contact supplier if the error
persists.
External I/O: WAGO, Init. Error
This is an internal error that might be persistent. To solve the problem:
Disconnect WAGO and cycle G4 Instrument power. Cycle power to WAGO and
G4 Instrument. Contact supplier if the error persists.
The Modbus TCP Slave is either On or Off. When a correct message is received the
header will blink
