CHAPTER 1: Introduction
The Serial Control Card, shown in Figure 1-3, has four RJ-45 female connectors.
These function as proprietarily pinned EIA/TIA RS-232 serial interfaces for
connection to, and communication with, your servers, hubs, routers, etc.

You can run a Category 5 twisted-pair patch cable (shown in Figure 1-4) from any
port on the Serial Control Card to your equipment. To attach the cable to your
equipment, you’ll need a modular adapter (see
Section 2.2
).
