I get black & white instead of color video.

The affected CPU probably needs to see monitor ID in order to boot into the
correct video mode. Please contact Black Box Technical Support.

Microsoft Windows 3.x, 95, 98, or 2000, Windows Me, Windows NT, or Windows XP will
only boot into a low-resolution graphics mode.

1. If your graphics card supports VESA DDC (Display Data Channel), configure

the graphics driver by explicitly telling it which make and model of monitor
you’re using, rather than letting the driver configure itself automatically (and
probably erroneously) through DDC, which the Extender doesn’t support.

2. The affected CPU might need to see monitor ID in order to boot into the

correct video mode. Please contact Black Box Technical Support.

Connecting a keyboard to the Remote has an adverse effect on the remote video.

Try using a newer keyboard. (Some older keyboards require too high a current for
the Remote to properly drive the video signal.)

The Rackmount Extender doesn’t seem to work correctly with my LCD panel.

Try reducing the refresh rate of the video signal that your graphics card is
outputting. (The maximum refresh rates supported by most LCD panels are less
than those supported by most monitors.)

OWER

I don’t need to use keyboards in my application, but the Extender doesn’t work at all unless I
have a keyboard line running from the Local Hub to one or more PCs or KVM switches.

If you aren’t using its optional power supply, the Extender’s Local Hub normally
operates using the 5 volts of DC power that each attached CPU or KVM switch
supplies on its keyboard and mouse ports. Either plug in the Local Hub’s power
supply or—even if you’re not using a keyboard or mouse at any of your local or
remote user stations—run cabling from the Local Hub’s CPU ports to the
keyboard ports of your CPUs or KVM switches in order to power the Local Hub.
