RACKMOUNT SERVSWITCH™ BRAND CAT5 KVM EXTENDER LOCAL HUBS
If your Local Hub is a KVM/Serial/Audio model and you want to do audio
extension, also plug one end of a pair of standard 3.5-mm male-to-male stereo
audio-extension cables such as product code EJ110-0010 into the matching 3.5-mm
female “audio in” and “audio out” audio ports in the Local Hub’s
top
row of
connectors, directly above the DB25 that you just plugged the KVM (EHN230)
cable into.
Finally, connect the other ends of the Extender’s KVM-extension cable (and any
serial-extension or audio-extension cables) to the matching strands of the switch’s
User Cable as shown in Figure 6-4 on the next page.
NOTES
If the switch is a ServSwitch Multi, keep these things in mind as you
match the serial and audio cables/strands:
– The proper DB9 serial connector to use on its User Cable is the
one
without
a yellow band.
– The audio cable from the Extender’s “audio out” connector should
be plugged into the
blue-banded
audio connector on the User Cable.
– The audio cable from the Extender’s “audio in” connector should
be plugged into the audio connector
without
a blue band on the User
Cable.
Also bear in mind that the microphone strand of the ServSwitch
Multi User Cable (the one with the
blue-banded
connector) is mono only,
so any stereo information that passes through this strand will be lost.
