Initial startup (telephone operation)
In stall your PABX as des cri bed in the sec ti on »In stal la ti on ».
Make all ne ces sa ry con nec tions, in clu ding the 230 V AC mains po wer supp ly.
Note:
When you switch on the 230 VAC po wer supp ly you may not in ter rupt the supp ly of po wer du ring the in itia li za ti on
pha se of the PABX (20 se conds!)
In its in iti al sta te, the PABX will sig nal an ex ter nal call at the ana log ter mi nal de vi ces and at the ISDN ter mi nal de vi ce
that has the num ber.
You must then as sign the num bers (MSN and di rect dial-in) to the ter mi nal de vi ces via PC con fi gu ra ti on to en su re
that the ot her con nec ted te le pho nes and ter mi nal de vi ces can all be rea ched by ex ter nal par ties.
If your PABX sys tem is set for use at a point-to-point con nec ti on it is cru ci al that you en ter your lo cal area code in the
Sec ti on »Dia ling re gi on« in PC Con fi gu ra ti on. Only af ter doing this can you take ad van ta ge of fea tu res such as »Call
for war ding« (Parti al Re rou ting) and »Au to ma tic Call-back«.
Your PABX is equip ped with an in ter nal »Pho ne num ber plan« (see page 43) that can be edi ted. The in ter nal num -
bers (or MSN ex ten sions) have de fault set tings in the PABX’s in iti al sta te. You can chan ge the se in ter nal num bers as
you re qui re through con fi gu ra ti on with the PC.
Your PABX supp orts the flash functi on for ana log te le pho nes. The re fo re, ne ver just brief ly re pla ce the hand set or
press the but ton in the crad le brief ly with your hand, as the PABX would take this as a flash sig nal ins te ad of han ging
up.

Con fi gu ra ti on using a te le pho ne
Va ri ous set tings are pro tec ted by PIN1 in the PABX. In the de fault sta te, this PIN 1 is set to 0000. Af ter you be gin con -
fi gu ra ti on you can set the fea tu res for your sys tem using the codes des cri bed here. The te le pho ne being used for pro -
gram me ming can not be rea ched whi le the sys tem is being con fi gu red.
You will hear the po si ti ve ac knowled ge ment sig nal once you suc cess ful ly con clu de con fi gu ra ti on for a set ting. You
can then move on to con fi gu re the next set ting. If you wait for more than 40 se conds bet ween one en try and anot her,
the PABX will ter mi na te con fi gu ra ti on and you will hear the busy sig nal. All in put made up to that point which was
con clu ded with a po si ti ve ac knowled ge ment sig nal will be sa ved when you hang up the hand set. Sa ving is per for med
for 10 se conds af ter you hang up the hand set. Du ring this pe ri od it is im por tant that you do not be gin a new con fi gu -
ra ti on of the sys tem, and that po wer is not in ter rup ted to the sys tem.
