Electrical Installation
Electrical installations may be carried out only by a specialist elec-
trician (specialized person).
Danger, electric shock!
Open the housing cover of the Uni-Probe only after the device, pos-
sibly connected relay contacts and all in- and outputs have been
disconnected from power.
Explosion hazard!
Never open the cover or keep it open in an explosive atmosphere.
Make sure, therefore, that no explosive atmosphere is present.
Otherwise, wait for 30 minutes after you have turned off the power
supply before you open the housing. The cooling-off time of 30
minutes ensures that possibly overheated components have
enough time to cool off and cannot ignite the explosive atmo-
sphere.
Connect the device to the power supply only after:
•
all cables have been connected
•
the cable have been passed properly through the cable glands
•
the cover has been placed onto the housing to close it. Screw
the housing cover completely onto the housing and pull it tight
using a torque of 25Nm (reference value).
Before closing, make sure that the threads are clean and greased
with OKS 217. See also Volume 1, "11.5 Material Safety Data
Sheet for Lubricant OKS 217" on page 1–113.
Prior to initial operation, check the connection box and then per-
form a visual inspection. Use the inspection schedules in chapters
"4.2 Visual Inspection of the Uni-Probe" and "4.3 Checking the
Connection Box" on page 2–216.
Relay
Please observe the relay contacts during connection:
–
the contacts are isolated
–
the maximum contact load capacity is 250V
AC
5A or 24V
DC
5A
non-inductive
–
voltages greater than 150V must be referenced to ground
potential
–
the relay contacts are not protected by fuses
Backup fuse
For the supply line we recommend a backup fuse of 1A slow-blow.
This fuse allows you to turn off the Uni-Probe, if necessary, and
also to monitor the supply line to the Uni-Probe.
