Always strap the mast with the groove facing upwards, to prevent damaging it. When
strapping the mast, you need to be very careful and always protect each point of contact
with at least one layer of foam, preferably two. First 18 mast is protected with a UV stable
sticker, which will get wrinkled if it comes in direct contact with straps.

Always leave a few fingers gap between the boat and the bow breaking pad. It will allow you
to install the transport cover and protect the bow from pad parks.

Trailer adjustments

When the boat is strapped and fixed, release the trailer bow winch tension a bit.

f)

Tightly screw and secure the aft supporting leg and front adjustable wheel.

When on the road regularly inspect all the straps and possible movements of the boat.

IN THE WATER AND UNDER THE SAILS

Warnings:
Never leave the boat in the water for a longer period of time without proper anti osmosis and
antifouling protection!
Be careful not to put too much tension on the kicker in winds exceeding 20-25 knots. This can result in
the kicker snapping. Always ease the tension a bit before bear-aways and gybes.

Always use the neoprene cover to seal the boat while sailing. Even though First 18 is insubmersible,
neoprene seal will significantly help the boat to recover from possible knock-down.
