AFT COWL GROUP
The aft cowl group includes the upper engine cowlings, the lower engine cowlings,
and the aft fairing. The left and right upper engine cowlings are formed from titanium,
and attach to the engine firewalls with DZUS type fasteners, to form part of the engines
exhaust ejector system. The left and right lower engine cowlings are light weight
fireproof graphite composite assemblies, hinged at the top, and secured at the bottom
with positive locking latches. When opened, the lower cowlings are supported at a
100° position by tubular gust-lock struts. The two section aft fairing covers the oil
cooler heat exchangers, and is constructed from special high temperature resin fiberglass
and reinforced honeycomb.
