Sensor
The flow sensor consists of a transmitter with display and a sensor.
It is available for various pipe diameters and applications (see
technical data sheet).
The magnetic-inductive flow sensor's measuring principle is based
on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. The sensor func-
tions without mechanical components or components which inter-
fere in the process.
“Functional principle” on page 27
The flow sensor measures the flow volume of fluids with a conduct-
ibility of 5 μS/cm in closed pipes.
3.2 Functional description
The magnetic-inductive flow sensor's measuring principle is based
on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction.
The coils of the flow sensor generate a magnetic field orthogonal to
the flow direction. The charge carriers of a conductive liquid are
deflected by Faraday's law of induction when passing through the
magnetic field. As a result, an electrical voltage between the meas-
uring electrodes is induced, which is measured and evaluated. The
higher the liquid velocity, the higher the induced voltage.
