Operation
a) Insert batteries
• Round cells: Insert a suitable battery into each charging bay
(3)
. Pay attention to correct
polarity (observe po and negative/-, see marking in charging bay and on the battery).
A maximum of 4 round cell batteries may be inserted.
• 9 V block batteries: Plug a suitable battery into the charging connection for 9 V block
batteries
(2)
. Pay attention to correct polarity (observe po and negative/-, see
marking in charging bay and on the battery).
b) Connecting to the power supply
• Connect the supplied micro USB charging cable to the micro USB input
(4)
or a USB-
C
TM
charging cable (not included) to the USB-C
TM
input
(5)
.
• Connect the other end of the charging cable to a USB connection for the power supply
(charging hub or USB power adapter with a capacity in accordance with the ‘Technical
data’).
You can also connect a charging cable to both USB inputs (USB-C
TM
and micro
USB) for the power supply. The charger draws the current from the stronger power
source, but never more than the maximum power required.
• The LC display
(1)
lights up. The charger detects the status of each inserted battery.
Charging begins, indicated by the running bars and the word ‘CHARGE’. See also section
‘c) Charging status and display indicators’.
• If the error message ‘ERROR’ appears on the LC display
(1)
, the battery is defective or
a non-rechargeable battery has been inserted. Remove the inserted (non-rechargeable)
batteries from the charging bay(s) immediately. Replace them accordingly or insert fully
functional batteries.
The error message applies equally to all charging bays. To find out which
connections are affected by the error message, you must remove the inserted
batteries individually and observe when the error message disappears.
• When the battery is fully charged and charging is complete, the message ‘FINISH’ appears
on the LC display
(1)
.
c) Charging status and display indicators
Empty Full
The display indicates the progress of charging. Each
individual segment of the bar indicates a higher charge
level. If all the bars are lit, the inserted batteries are
fully charged.
Charging is complete because the batteries are fully
charged.
The batteries are being charged.
A non-rechargeable or defective battery was inserted.
The message applies to all charging bays. Locate the
appropriate defective batteries or batteries that have
been inserted accidentally.
d)
Removing the batteries after charging
• Remove the batteries from the charger when they are fully charged.
• Disconnect the charger from the power supply when you are no longer using it.
e) Charging times
• The charger can be operated with two different input powers (1 A or 2 A at 5 V/DC each).
•
The time required for charging is influenced by the capacity, type and condition of the
batteries for the individual types.

Care and cleaning
Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical
solutions, as these may damage the housing or impair the functioning of the device.
• Disconnect the product from the power supply before cleaning. Do not immerse the product
in water.
• Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the product.
• To prevent scratch marks, do not press too hard on the surface of the enclosure or LC
display when cleaning.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be placed in household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in accordance with applicable
regulatory guidelines. Remove any inserted batteries and dispose of them separately
from the product.
b)
(Rechargeable) batteries
You as the end user are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used
batteries. The device must not be disposed of as domestic waste. Contaminated
batteries are labelled with this symbol to indicate that disposal in the domestic waste
is forbidden. The abbreviations for heavy metals in batteries are: Cd = Cadmium,
Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (indicated on the battery, e.g. below the waste bin icon on
the left).
Used batteries can be returned to local collection points, our stores or battery retailers.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to environmental protection.
