BKcSuite RS-232 Port Setup
For more information on BKC-DIP and RS-232 control, please visit our website at
1. RS-232 Baud Rate:
B&K recommends using 9600 baud rate. The default baud rate is set 9600 with support for 1200-115200.
2. RS-232 Receive ID:
For use with BKC-DIP serial communication protocol. Allows the unit to “listen” (Receive ID) to other B&K
products and controllers. Typically the Receive ID and Transmit ID will be set the same ID unless it is desired
to control more than one B&K product from the same data port.
3. RS-232 Transmit ID:
For use with BKC-DIP serial communication protocol. Allows the unit to “talk” (Transmit ID) to other B&K
products and controllers. Typically the Receive ID and Transmit ID will be set the same ID unless it is desired
to control more than one B&K product from the same data port.
4. RS-232 Echo Enabled:
For use with an external control system talking to the HD6 via RS-232. Echo will repeat RS-232 transmission
received through the main RJ-45 receive port.
5. BKC-DIP Feedback Selection:
For use with an external control system listening to the HD6 via RS-232. Feedback may be set to None, Update,
Reply, and Both (Update and Reply). BKC-DIP commands are sent out the RJ-45 RS-232 I/O transmit port.
6. Convert IR to BKC-DIP Messages:
This feature allows a simple means to have B&K IR messages received at the rear panel IR In port to be
converted to BKC-DIP serial messages. The second B&K device must be connected to the HD6’s RJ-45 RS-
232 I/O transmit port using a B&K RS-232 swap cable.
7. BKC-DIP Transmit ID:
Sets the transmit ID for use with the Convert IR to BKC-DIP Messages feature. Select Global (All) when it is
desired to have all B&K connected devices respond to the transmitted message. Select other than ALL for use
with a specific B&K device and ID.
