Caution:
The external answering machine is an optional service from the
network provider. This function can only be used when your telephone net-
work provider actually offers the service. Contact your network provider for
further information.
5.3
Taking a call
When a call is received, both the handset and base station ring. Take the handset
from the base station or press the Call button

. A connection is established. The
call indicator LED

on the base station lights up during the call.
To end the call, replace the handset in the base station or press the
C
button on the
handset.
Note:
When the handset is rings, the ringing tone can be switched off for this
incoming call. To do this, press the
C
button.
5.4
Taking two calls
You will hear acoustic signals (call waiting) if a second call is received while you are
carrying out a telephone conversation. The number of the second caller appears in
the display. It is possible to switch between the two callers by pressing the
H
button
as required. One caller is put on hold while you converse with the other.
Note:
In order to use the added value services provided by
DEUTSCHE TELEKOM, the Flash time setting 300 ms has to be selected
(refer to Chapter 9.2.3).
Caution:
The caller number display and call waiting indication is an op-
tional service offered by the telephone network provider. The caller number
appears in the display if the service is offered by your telephone network
provider. Contact your network provider for further information.
5.5
Making a call
1. Enter the phone number to be called (max. 20 digits)
using the digit keypad. Since the display can only
show a maximum of 12 digits, only the last 12 digits
are displayed in the case of longer phone numbers.
Note:
If you enter an incorrect number, press the
I
button as often as necessary
to continuously delete the last digit in the phone number. The entire number
is deleted by pressing and holding the
I
button. The handset returns to
standby mode.

It is also possible to press the Call button

first to obtain an outside line.
In the case of private branch exchanges, it is necessary to dial a specific
number (e.g. “9” or “0”) in order to obtain the dialling tone for an outside line
