K.1.2 Establish communication between the R4520C and the PDA 

 

 
 
 
Connect the provided Serial Cable (9 pin cable) to a serial port on the PDA, and to the PC/CLONE connector on 
the R4520C.   
 
 
With the ATS R4520C program running on the PDA, move the R4520C cursor to the PC position while in the 
R4520C “Main Menu”.  Presses “

ENTER”

 on the R4520C. 

 
 
The R4520C display will change to:

If communication is not successful: 
 
 

1. Check that both ends of the offload cable are plugged in. The female end of your cable plugs into a Com 
Port or Serial I/O adapter of your PDA and the male end plugs into the R4520C’s 9 pin connector labeled 
“PC/CLONE”. 

 

2. Verify that the selected Com Port matches the PDA Com Port that you are currently plugged into. 

 

3. Make sure that the R4520C is powered up. 

 

4. Make sure that you are in the R4520C’s “PC Mode” and that the screen reads “Active”.  Choose “PC 
Mode” by selecting “PC” from the “Main Menu” of the R4520C. This needs to be done while you are 
connected to your PC and after you have booted up the ATS R4520C PDA program
