Chapter 2  Introducing the Aruba 8325 Switch

9

Interface-Group operation

The SFP28 ports in the Aruba 8325-48Y8C switches are organized into four groups of 12 ports each.

Figure 2:

Front of the Aruba 8325-48Y8C (JL624A and JL625A) interface-groups

All transceivers in a given interface-group must have the same speed. For example, in an interface-group
configured for 25 Gbps operation, any 10 Gbps transceivers installed will be in conflict with the interface-group
configuration and not be enabled. Any interface in conflict with the current configuration will cause a fault event to
be logged in the event log, the interface will be labeled as a “group speed mismatch," and the port LED will flash
amber to indicate an installation error was detected. All fault indications will flash in unison with the Global Status
LED to alert the user.

In the default switch configuration, all four interface-groups are configured to 25 Gbps. To configure the speed for
an interface-group to 10 Gbps, use the following command:

system interface-group <1|2|3|4> speed <10g|25g>

For example, to configure interface-group 1 for 10g, use this command:

8325(config)# system interface-group 1 speed 10g

Once entered, the switch will present the warning and required user response:

Changing the group speed will disable all member interfaces

that do not match the new speed.
