Processor

ATCA-7540 provides two Intel

®

 Xeon

®

 Scalable Processors (codename: Skylake) as the central 

processing unit (CPU). Each processor provides 48 PCI Express (PCIe) lanes up to Gen3 speeds 
(8 GT/s). The processors are connected with each other through two Intel

®

 Ultra Path 

Interconnect (UPI). The links consist of two ports of 20 lanes (TX/RX pairs) operating at 
10.4 GT/s. Each processor provides an integrated 6-channel DDR4 Integrated Memory 
Controller (IMC) supporting up to DDR4-2400 MT/s.

The processors have a Direct Media Interface (DMI) link for communication between the CPUs 
and the PCH. The ATCA-7540 blade has one DMI link between CPU0 and the PCH. It is four-lane 
link running at PCIe 3.0 speed. The DMI port on CPU1 is not used.

4.3

DDR4 Main Memory

The blade provides two CPUs which has six channels of independent DDR4 memory on each 
CPU. The blade provides support for one RDIMM on each of the 12 DDR4 channels. Registered 
DDR4 RDIMMs are used for best performance.

The following are the DDR4 module specifications:

Maximum DDR4 supported 2400 MT/s

Very low profile

Max two ranks per RDIMM

Can support up to 32 GB capacity per RDIMM

Standard voltage (1.2 V)

              

When mixing RDIMMs of different speed selections, the BIOS will set up the lowest speed 
for all memory channels/RDIMM slots.
