7BGENERAL DESCRIPTION
INTRODUCTION
copy to avoid unexpected losses in case of shutdown during a memory write-delete
process. The second flash memory is used for storage of oscillographic records.
SRAM memory (1MB). Stores rapidly changing information. A lithium battery allows
for the preservation of the data in the absence of a power supply. 11.2 MHz Data
bus. Part of this memory is used as temporary storage area for disturbance records
until they are completely saved in Flash Memory.
SDRAM memory (8MB). Stores dynamic data that can be lost if the power supply is
interrupted. Here also run algorithms of lower priority.84 MHz
Analog signal acquisition. This task is performed by the inputs and a set of filters and
amplifiers used for signal conditioning for the A/D converter (AD block in the
diagram). This converter transforms analog voltage and current signals to digital
values that can be processed by the smART P500. 8 channels are acquired at 128
samples per cycle, with variable sampling rate.Once the sampling of the first chnnel
is launched, the other seven channels are sampled at maximum rate to avoid lags
between channels. ADC works at approximately 100 kSamples / s.
In addition to the previously mentioned elements, the equipment is complemented
with digital inputs, digital outputs, a 19 buttons keyboard, LED indicators, a liquid
crystal display, a temperature sensor and an IRIG-B input.
RTC resolution of hundredths of a second.
Serial interface - TCP / IP. This is a Digi with an ARM and Linux is running an
application that is a gateway for communication protocols.
The smART P500 protective relay uses a fixed sampling rate of 128 samples per cycle in
the digital processing of the analog input signals. On the other hand, the frequency is
derived from voltage signals. Thus, the sampling rate is adapted to the system frequency to
maintain a fixed sampling rate. If no voltage signals are available, the algorithm uses the
user-defined nominal frequency, implying that the measurement algorithms will present
some additional error, proportional to the deviation of the frequency from the configured
nominal frequency. Besides, all protective functions are executed each ¼ cycle.
The smART P500 runs the protection algorithms every ¼ of cycle, achieving reliable and
fast execution times.
