SMOOTHING
The circle resolution can be changed with the settings for CIRCLE
RESOLUTION, SMOOTHING and SPEEDBOOSTER
CIRCLE RESOLUTION
The HPGL circle commands can be set in different values of chordal
height:
HPGL CHORD TOL.
EXCELLENT 0.0050 mm
FINE 0.0100 mm
NORMAL 0.0200 mm
DRAFT1 0.0375 mm
DRAFT2 0.0750 mm
DRAFT3 0.1500 mm
In case of choosing HPGL CHORD TOLERANCE the HPGL standard
setting will be used (0.020 mm). It is changeable with HPGL commands
AA, AR, CI.
SMOOTHING LEVEL
The different smoothing levels increase the quality of plot data and speed
of cutting. Some HPGL drivers put out plot data which can be used with
pen plotters. If using the data for cutting plotters you can get unsatisfy-
ing results.
If the length of the vectors is similar to the plotter resolution, frequent
changes of tool direction occur. The consequences are long plotting times
and the production of frayed contours.
In different steps the filter optimises the bending angle of following vec-
tors and the vector lengths. It produces a smooth curve.
