5.8. Filling the Hydraulic System
At delivery, AKY032/034 boilers are filled with water/glycol
mixture and have two shut-off cocks on hydraulic system.
AKY070 boilers do not.
Use the same type of glycol for all models.
AKY032/034 boilers are delivered already filled with 6 liters of
30% water-glycol mixture. This quantity is enough for a small
system formed by a boiler, a water coil and flexible hoses up
to one meter.
Filling or re-filling operations are the same for all models.
FILLING:
• Make sure that boiler to indoor unit connections are correct
and compliant with instructions on delivery and return flows.
• Make sure the automatic vent valve on the circulator is open.
For AKY032/034 models:
• Open gradually "A" cocks (see diagram).
For AKY050/070 models:
• After removing cover of "C” inlet valve, connect it to a test
pump though a 1/2” flexible hose while the tank is full of
water/glycol mixture. Increase mixture pressure to about
2 bars.
For any models:
• Vent the pipes.
• When done, check on display that the pressure inside
the circuit is higher than 1 bar. Lower values would make
minimum water pressure switch (adjusted at 0.4 bars)
issue a F80 lock.
Re-filling of antifreeze mixture
When necessary, refill antifreeze mixture following instructions
given for AKY070 boiler in previous paragraph.
GLYCOL
For its AKY boilers, Apen Group tested and recommends ALPHI
11 glycol manufactured by Fernox. The following kits can be
ordered:

Using glycol with another composition might void the
exchanger’s warranty.
REMARK: Percentages of glycol shown are referred to final
result. 10 litres of mixture at 30% are formed by 7 litres of water
and 3 litres of glycol).
NOTE: Values for glycol and limit temperatures on page 16
should be considered as a reference. The boiler is certified
for use with outdoor temperatures above -15°C.
