WARM AIR HEATER SERIES RAPID
4. USER'S INSTRUCTIONS
Read General and Safety Warnings on page 3.
The user shall only use the room thermostat controls
and possibly the commands installed on the unit.
4.1
Description of the heater
Suspended warm air heaters of RAPID series heat air by direct
exchange, with a combustion circuit sealed from the room they
are installed into.
Their patented heat exchanger, furnace and premix burner are
entirely made of stainless steel.
Therefore, you can install our heaters in any of the industrial or
residential environments where the existing regulations allow
air recirculation in the room.
The heater works in fully automated mode. It includes a self-
checking electronic device that regulates all burner controls and
commands, thereby ensuring top reliability and safety.
4.2
Heater Operation
In order to ensure proper operation, the heater shall be connected
to a room thermostat and/or a timer that automatically starts
the working cycle.
Apen Group can provide suitable accessories for unit control.
WINTER: heating mode
To operate the heater, please do the following:
- Make sure gas supply cock is open
- Check the green LED is on (it indicates the unit is powered.)
- Turn the I/0/II switch on “I = Winter”;
- Close room thermostat contact and make sure that the timer,
if installed, is OFF.
These are the prerequisites to launch burner start-up cycle.
The flame control device starts up the burner that launches the
furnace pre-washing phase. The flame is lit about 30 seconds
afterwards.
A detection electrode checks the burner has actually fired. In
case it has not, the start up sequence is repeated 4 times before
locking the unit.
30 seconds after the burner is fired, the fan automatically starts
to blow air in the room. In winter mode, the burner and the fan
work continuously without stopping.
When the set temperature is reached, the room thermostat turns
the burner off. The fan keeps working for 120 seconds to cool
the exchanger down while the fan in the burner post-washes
the furnace for 60 seconds.
The burner restarts when a heat request is issued by room
thermostat.
The heater shall not be turned off by disconnecting it from the
mains while it is running. In such case, the exchanger would
not be cooled down, its durability would be jeopardized and
the guarantee would be void.
Locking the heater
On the front of the heater a red LED is installed to show if the
equipment is locked. This LED can light up for two reasons:
- The burner locks up (no flame)
- Safety controls lock up
In case of a lock, you can reset the unit manually by pressing
the button on the front of the heater for longer than 1 second.
This button can also be remotely controlled (see wiring diagrams
in the section reserved for the installer).
If the units locks up again after 35/40 seconds
If after two or three reset attempts the lock is not resolved, do
not insist and contact your Support Center for a repair call.
