Chapter 5. Configure the chassis

Status > Failover Status

You can access the

Failover Status

screen using either of the following LCD menus:

• Main Menu > Status > Failover Status
• Main Menu > Failover > Failover Status

The

Failover Status

screen displays the status for controller failover within the switch.

n/a

No power supply is installed in this position.

Temperature

Indicates temperature and status.

Good (

green

)

Internal temperature is within specified limits. The
default temperature’s maximum threshold is 80º C.

FAIL (

red

)

Internal temperature exceeds the specified limit.
Generates an audible alarm, if enabled.

Fan Module

Indicates operational status of the fan cage.

Good (

green

)

The fan cage is functioning within normal thresholds.

FAIL (

red

)

The fan cage failed. Generates an audible alarm
regardless of the alarm setting.

Absent

The fan cage has been pulled out of the chassis.

Shutdown

The fans have been powered OFF long enough that the
chassis has shut down the backplane to protect the
chassis from overheating.

SFP

Indicates operational status of transceiver
temperature, power, and received signal. Checks the
transmit signal only if Automatic Transmitter Disable is
set to

TX on when no RX

.

Good (

green

)

The transceiver is functioning within normal thresholds.

FAIL (

red

)

One or more transceivers have exceeded the alarm
threshold defined by the transceiver manufacturer. If
this occurs, the chassis also emits an audible alarm.

Blades
(A, B, and so on)

Blades are identified on the LCD screen as alpha
characters (A, B, C, and so on). Blade A is designated as
the blade installed in the lowest (bottom) slot in the
chassis. The color indicates the operational status of
transceivers installed in ports on each blade.

Solid Gray

No blade is installed in this slot.

Gray with small
rectangle(s)

Each small rectangle indicates where a transceiver is
installed.
