Power Supply Fan
Replacing the power supply fan requires removing the power supply cover.
1.
Remove the front handles, rear feet, and chassis top and bottom covers as described in
.
2.
On the power supply cover, remove the 4 screws closest to the corners. See
.
3.
Lift the cover and the attached main power supply out of the way.
4.
Detach the power connector from JP2 on the regulator board.
5.
Remove the wires from the connector housing so the fan wires can be pulled from the housing.
6.
Remove the fan by pulling outward.
You may have to grasp and pull outward on the anti–vibration mounts to release the fan. Only a small
amount of force is required. If this is not successful, cut the anti-vibration mounts.
7.
Replace all damaged anti-vibration mounts (see
for part number).
8.
If the regulator PC board was removed, install it now.
9.
Remove the fan wiring connector housing by pressing down on the metal tabs and gently pulling the
contact from the housing.
10.
Install the new fan. Pass the wires from the new fan through rubber isolator.
11.
After the new fan wires are pulled into the power supply housing, reassemble the pins to the connector
housing to the wires according to
12.
Attach the fan electrical connector to its connector on the A3 regulator PC Board.
13.
To reassemble the system, reverse the process.
Danger
Hazardous voltages are exposed inside the MG3702xA whenever the
power supply enclosure is open and the AC line power is connected. Turn
off the instrument and remove the line cord before removing the power
supply cover. Use extreme caution when troubleshooting with the power
supply cover removed and the unit energized.
Troubleshooting or repair procedures should only be performed by
qualified service personnel who are fully aware of the potential hazards.
Note
The cover will feel heavy when lifted because the main power supply is mounted to the underside of
the cover.
Note
If the lower anti–vibration fan mounts are damaged or cut, the regulator PC assembly must be
removed so new mounts can be installed. See
for instructions.
Note
Before installing the new connector assembly, feed the fan wire ends through the rubber isolator.
Caution
Observe polarity during connector assembly to prevent the fan from running in the wrong direction.
