30 Using VPXImport VPXImport Import Tool Program

Import
Imports (uploads) the selected model data to your existing
database.

Cancel
Cancels the import process.

Select the desired user-defined device models from the listing by either
holding down the Shift or Control keys while you select using your mouse, or
right-click on a model and choose the Select-All option.

Click Import to download the model information to your existing database.

A Model Name dialog box appears when the name of the model being
downloaded matches that of the pre-existing model. Enter information into the
model name or note fields to differentiate the new data from the existing one.

Click Details to view information regarding both the incoming and existing
records. Continue the above procedures for each similar model record.

Once the download of the new models is complete, select any of the Model
Information filter criteria that matches the newly imported records and click
Run Query.

All of the newly imported records will appear in bold text. At this point, you
can alter the characteristics of the new data. To edit the new record, click Edit
in the Model drop-down menu or
to open the Basic Model Information
dialog box.
Working with Manufacturers
These instructions describe how to add, delete, and rename manufacturer names.
All new manufacturer names added to the original database appear in the main
window in bold typeface. To ensure the original database is not inadvertently
corrupted, the VPXImport program only allows you to edit and delete new
manufacturer names added to the database.
Adding manufacturers
You can add manufacturer names to the database and use them to develop new
model configurations. The manufacturer names you add to the database can also be
renamed and/or deleted using the Manufacturer dialog box (Figure 32) as required.
To add a manufacturer’s name to the database:

Click Manufacturers in the Model drop-down menu or to open the
Manufacturers dialog box dialog box.

If you add a new model to the
database that has the same
name as another model in
your existing database, the
VPXImport program prompts
you to either alter the model
name/note or skip the import
of that particular model to
your database.
