IR files are typically named using an abbreviation of the manufacturer’s name.
For example, if you wanted to add a VCR to the database that was
manufactured by the ABC company, read the information of all the IR files that
contain ABC like ABC1.irl, ABC2.irv, and ABC3.irl. Then, you can determine
the best-suited IR file to assign to the model.

Click Import Custom IR file to assign an external IR file to the model. Then,
click Browse to open the Open dialog box, choose the target IR file, and click
OK to assign the file. The external IR file’s directory path and filename appears
in the Filename field.

Click Wired IR in the dialog box if the model requires wired IR connections for
control and go to step 13. Click IR if the model supports wireless IR control and
go to step 14.

Click Device supports Serial if the model requires wired serial connections for
control. If not, go to the next step.

Click Use Power Control if the model supports power on/off IR control
functions. If not, go to the next step. The VPXpress software program requires
that you assign the power on/off IR control function to channel number 9 for
non-discrete control or channels 27 and 28 for discrete control. If not, the
power option will
not work correctly.
15.
Click Require a Carrier if the model requires carrier signals with the IR control
data. If not, go to the next step.

Click Next to save the control information and open the Custom IR File
Function vs. VPXpress Mapping dialog box shown in Figure 25. This dialog box
lists the control functions and channel assignments of the IR file you assigned
to the model.

IRLIB software program and
have a .IRV or .IRL file
