5.4 Electrochemical and Catalytic Span Test
The span test is intended to check the proportional error (sometimes called the ‘gain’) of the instrument,
that introduces an error proportional to the gas concentration.
The detector shall be exposed to the span gas using the recommended gas listed in Table 2.
The following instructions detail the SPAN ADJUSTMENT procedure.
1. Access the GG2 maintenance menu via the display UI using the magnetic calibration tool. Refer
to Section 6.1 for an overview of navigating the user interface and the menu structure.

Access the “GAS CALIBRATION” menu. Refer to Figure 15.
3.
For Catalytic and Electrochemical Detections, access “SPAN ADJUSTMENT” menu. Refer to
Figure 16.
4. Adjust the SPAN VALUE to the appropriate level as specified on the span gas bottle. Apply the
span gas and calibration cup.
5. It is recommended to apply test gas for 180 seconds prior to adjustment. Once the reading is
stable, press the keypad enter button to save the span adjustment.
