Step 1: Determine System Inertia

Step 2: Determine the Deceleration Rate

The maximum deceleration rate is 6135.5 rad/sec

. This is the programmable limit of the

SV160E2. If the calculated value exceeds this limit, the time to decelerate must be increased.

Step 3: Determine Peak Braking Power

Peak Braking Power (P

b

) cannot exceed 549 watts. This limit is based on the absolute

peak current and absolute peak torque ratings of the SV160E2. They are 13.2 amps and
1.75 Nm respectively. Exceeding 549 watts may force the drive into current limit and
cause a loss of motion control. If the calculated peak braking power exceeds 549 watts,
increase the deceleration time, or change the gear ratio to decrease the reflected load
inertia.
