10 GAS SAFETY REGULA TIONS
9 IMPORTANT NO TES
1. BOILER LOCATION
Always ensure the f ollowing clear ances are availab le around the casing of the boiler:-
Top:
(horiz ontal flue) 235 mm,
Top:
(ver tical flue) 150 mm,
Bottom:
150 mm,
Bottom:
(with Jig) 250 mm,
Each side: 5 mm, Front: 450 mm
Do not store any other ar ticles in a cupboard containing the boiler and never place an y clothing or combustib le material on or
near the boiler or flue pipe.
2. FLUE TERMINAL
The terminal on the outside w all must not be allo wed to be obstr ucted. If it is damaged, in an y way , turn the boiler off and
contact your Ser vice Engineer.
Note:
The Alpha E-T ec Plus boiler is a high efficiency condensing boiler and when oper ating vapour will be emitted from the
terminal. This is saf e and quite normal.
3. MAINS FAILURE
In the event of an electr ical supply failure the boiler will not oper ate. When the supply is restored, the boiler will retur n to
normal oper ation. Remember to reset an y controls, if fitted, when the supply is restored.
If the mains water supply f ails, there will be no hot w ater from the taps. The boiler will contin ue to provide centr al heating.
4. ADDITIONAL BA THROOM FITTINGS
Any equipment such as mixing v alves , show ers, bidets etc. must be designed to oper ate at mains water pressure . Contact
your plumbing merchant or installer f or advice when considering purchasing such items .
5. CLEANING
Use only a damp cloth and mild detergent to clean the boiler outer casing. Do not use abr asive cleaners .
6. SERVICING
T o maintain efficient and saf e operation of y our boiler, routine ann ual servicing is essential.

7. GAS LEAK
If you smell gas or are w orried about gas safety , turn off the gas suppl y. Do not touc h any electrical
switc hes, do not smoke , e xtinguish all naked flames and open all doors and windo ws. Contact the
National Gas Emerg ency Ser vice immediately on 0800 111 999.
8. ELECTRICAL SUPPL Y
The boiler requires a 230 V ~ 50 Hz supply , fused at 3 A.
To connect a plug:-
The colour of the wires in the mains lead of the boiler may not correspond with the coloured mar kings identifying the
terminals in y our plug. In this case proceed as f ollows:-
The wire coloured green and y ellow m ust be connected to the terminal in the plug that is mar ked with the letter
E
, or by the
earth symbol , or coloured green or g reen and yello w.
The blue wire m ust be connected to the terminal which is mar ked with either the letter N or coloured blac k.
The brown wire m ust be connected to the terminal which is mar ked with the letter
L
or coloured red.
THE APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED .
9. DO NO T T AMPER WITH THE APPLIANCE OR FLUE
At the end of its service lif e, the appliance m ust not be disposed of like nor mal household waste nor abandoned in
the environment, b ut must be remo ved b y a professionally author ised company as required b y current legislation.
Contact the manuf acturer for disposal instr uctions.
Current Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations:-
It is the law that all gas appliances are installed and ser viced by a competent person, i.e . Gas Saf e registered personnel.
Failure to install or ser vice appliances correctly could lead to prosecution. It is in y our interest and that of safety to ensure
compliance with the law . The man ufacturer's instr uctions must not be tak en in any w ay as o ver-r iding statutory ob ligations.
The Benchmark Chec klist must be fully completed b y the installer on installation of the boiler. The Benchmar k Checklist is
shown in bac k of the Installation and Servicing instr uctions. All Gas Saf e registered installers carry a Gas Saf e ID card and
have a registr ation number . Both should be recorded in the Chec klist. Y ou can check y our installer is Gas Safe registered b y
calling Gas Safe on 0800 408 5500.
