Introduction
It
is
vital
that
the
spark
plug
in
a
gasoline
engine
is
in
good
condition
and
has
the
correct
gap
in
order
for
the
engine
to
work
at
optimum
efficiency
and
reliability.
If
in
any
doubt,
the
spark
plug
must
be
replaced
with
a
new
item
supplied
by
Alpha.
The
procedures
below
shows
how
to
check
spark
plug
general
condition
and
also
for
the
correct
gap.
Step
by
Step
Procedure
Step
1
–
Disconnect
the
high
tension
lead
and
remove
the
Spark
Plug
NGK
CMR7H
(010172776),
using
only
the
correct
spanner.
Step
2
–
Inspect
the
spark
plug.
Assuming
that
the
plug
is
within
its
operating
life,
and
that
the
Carburetor
WT
‐
990
(010172780)
is
correctly
adjusted,
then
the
spark
plug
should
be
in
good
condition
as
shown
in
this
photo.
Note
the
white
insulation
on
the
center
electrode,
which
is
in
good
condition,
and
the
general
condition
of
both
metal
electrodes.
