Introduction
All
Alpha
UAVs
use
Servo
BLA
1HH21
(010124243)
to
provide
mechanical
movement
of
UAV
components
(control
surfaces,
swashplate,
throttle,
camera
position
etc.).
In
order
to
achieve
optimum
and
safe
UAV
control,
the
servos
must
be
correctly
calibrated
and
centered.
The
autopilot
(010139269)
must
also
be
programmed
with
the
limits
of
servo
movement
in
either
direction
to
avoid
chafing.
This
generic
procedure
details
the
steps
required
to
calibrate
any
UAV
servo
with
the
User
Tools;
it
assumes
that
the
new
servo
has
been
prepared
in
accordance
with
Maintenance
Sheet
('New
servo
preparation).
Step
by
Step
Procedure
Step
1
‐
Alpha
servos
must
be
calibrated
so
that
their
positions
at
minimum
deflection,
maximum
deflection
and
center
(not
all
servos)
are
correctly
calibrated
for
their
purpose.
The
User
Tools
interface
allows
for
adjustment
(corresponding
to
the
microsecond
(µs)
values
shown
above)
to
achieve
this.
Step
2
‐
Ensure
that
the
servo
is
correctly
installed.
For
the
mechanical
installation,
this
includes
the
correct
servo
horn
dimensions
and
the
distance
of
the
ball
link
(010153210)
from
the
center
of
the
servo
output
shaft.
For
the
electrical
installation,
this
includes
correct
connection
to
the
UAV's
Power
and
Communications
Module
(PCM).
