Figure 34: QoS Shaper Configuration
Egress TCA is required if shaper is configured for that interface.
Field
Description
Interface
The selections are WAN/LAN interfaces except WLAN, which does not support
Shaper feature. This field needs to be selected before shaper configuration.
Max Rate
This field is applicable for the HTB Queue Discipline and Low Latency Queue
Discipline; both are rate-based shaping algorithms.
HTB Queue
Discipline
The Hierarchical Token Bucket queue discipline is a rate-based shaping algorithm.
This algorithm rate shapes the traffic of a class over a specific interface. All CoSx
traffic use a specific rate to which data will be shaped. For example: If CoS1 is
configured to 100Kbits then even if 300Kbits of CoS1 data is being transmitted to
the interface, only 100Kbits will be sent out.
Low Latency
Queue
Discipline
This is similar to the above algorithm except that CoS1 is not rate limited. So in the
example above CoS1 data is not rate limited to 100Kbits but instead all 300Kbits is
transmitted. The side effect is that a misconfigured stream can potentially take all
bandwidth.
PRIOWRR
This is a priority based weighted round robin algorithm operating on CoS2-CoS6.
CoS1 queues have the highest priority and are not controlled by the WRR algorithm.
Of the three shaping algorithms available on the Shaper Configuration page, only one can be enabled at a
time. An example of each configuration is given as follows.
