Installing Power Supplies
Power supply can be installed in the following ways:
•
As a primary or backup supply directly connected to the back of a chassis. See
“Connecting a Power
Supply Directly to the Chassis” on page 4-11
for more information.
•
As a primary or backup supply connected with a cable. See
“Connecting a Power Supply with a Cable”
on page 4-12
for more information.
DC power supplies require additional installation steps. See
“DC Power Supply Considerations” on
page 4-16
for more information.
Anti-Static Warning.
Before handling any components, free yourself of static by wearing a grounding
strap, or by grounding yourself properly. Static discharge can damage the switch and the backup power
supply.
Connecting a Power Supply Directly to the Chassis
Follow the steps below to connect a power supply directly (i.e., without a cable) to the back of the
OmniSwitch:

Place the chassis and power supply on a smooth, clean, and dry surface.

to install the power shelf.

Carefully slide the power shelf so that it is flush against the back of the chassis.

Tighten the two captive screws located on the left and right sides of the power shelf.
