Maintaining Your GC

Maintaining the Split/Splitless Inlet

To Install a Capillary Column with the Split/Splitless Inlet

Gather the following (see

“Consumables and Parts for the

Split/Splitless Inlet”

on page 44):

•

Column

•

Ferrule(s)

•

Column nut

•

Septum

•

Column cutter

•

Isopropanol

•

Lab tissue

•

Metric ruler

•

1/4- inch open- end wrench

•

Lint- free gloves

Load the

GC maintenance method

and wait for the GC to

become ready.

Verify that the correct glass liner is installed. (See

“Consumables and Parts for the Split/Splitless Inlet”

page 44.)

Place the column on the hanger with the ends pointing up
and the label to the front.

WA R N I N G

Do not use hydrogen as the carrier for conditioning! It could vent
into the oven and present an explosion hazard.

WA R N I N G

Be careful! The oven and/or inlet may be hot enough to cause
burns. If either is hot, wear heat-resistant gloves to protect your
hands

WA R N I N G

Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from flying particles
while handling, cutting, or installing glass or fused silica capillary
